Feb. 9, 2010

SAN DIEGO - UC Irvine's Zac Tsai won a third-set tiebreaker to lift the Anteaters to a 4-3 victory over 54th-ranked San Diego State on Tuesday in the conclusion of a men's tennis match that was suspended last Friday due to rain.

The Aztecs (0-4) and Anteaters (4-2) were tied at three team points apiece, and San Diego State's Andre Felix and Tsai were knotted one-all in a third-set tiebreaker when the skies opened up last Friday at the Aztec Tennis Center. The conclusion of the match took a total of eight points and less than 10 minutes, with Tsai claiming a 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (3) decision.

Last Friday, the Aztecs won the doubles point to start off, beating the Anteaters in the No. 1 and No. 3 matches. Achim Ceban and Juan Gomez both recorded victories for SDSU in singles action.

Ceban downed UCI's Sam Gould, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 1 singles, while 114th-ranked Juan Gomez remained undefeated in the spring season, winning at No. 3 singles, 7-6(5), 6-4.

The Aztecs return to action on Feb. 20, when San Diego State travels to Los Angele to face 4th-ranked UCLA. San Diego State's next home match is scheduled for the following day, Feb. 21, against UC Santa Barbara.
