San Diego - The 54th ranked San Diego State men's tennis team played UC-Irvine to a 3-3 tie at Aztec Tennis Center before the match was postponed due to rain. The weather forced the end of a battle at No.4 singles between Andre Feliz and Zac Tsai, which was tied in a tiebreaker at 4-6, 6-4, 6-6(1-1). The match will resume play Tuesday, Feb.9, at 4:30 p.m.
The Aztecs (0-3) won the doubles point to start off, beating the Anteaters (3-2) in the No. 1 and No. 3 games. Both Achim Ceban and Juan Gomez recorded victories for SDSU in singles action.
Ceban downed UCI's Sam Gould, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 1 singles. 114th-ranked Juan Gomez stayed undefeated in the spring season, winning the No. 3 singles game, 7-6(5), 6-4.
The Aztecs will return to the court Tuesday Feb. 9, to finish the match between Feliz and Tsai and try to record their first home win of the season.
