OKLAHOMA CITY - The San Diego State swimming and diving team sits in third place after day one of the 2010 Mountain West Conference Championships being contested in Oklahoma City. Through the meet's first three events, the Aztecs have 81 points to trail Brigham Young (133) and Wyoming (109).

Three events were held on Thursday including the one-meter diving, 200 medley relay and 800 freestyle relay with SDSU taking first place in both swimming events and setting school records in the process. The Aztecs' time in those relay races met the NCAA B standard for consideration at next month's NCAA Championship meet.

In the 200 medley relay, the foursome of Leona Jennings, Katelyn Weddle, Brooke Vessey and Emilee Jennings took first with a time of 1:40.59. That mark eclipsed the old Aztec record by 1.44 seconds.

The 800 free relay saw the San Diego State team of Stephanie Koch, Meghan Zimmer, Petra Radovic and Melanie Garibaldi turn in a time of 7:15.57 as they shattered the old school record by almost 11 seconds and finished five second ahead of second-place BYU.

Freshman diver Rafaella Suarez, who joined the team at the semester break, picked up a point in the one-meter diving with a score of 238.55.

The individual swimming events get underway on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. (CT) with the 500 freestyle prelims.
