LOS ANGELES - The fifth-ranked USC men's tennis team swept San Diego State Tuesday afternoon at Mark Stadium, 7-0. The Trojans improved to 10-1 on the season, while the Aztecs fell to 1-6.
Despite the score, the Aztecs were competitive, winning at least six games at five of the six singles spots and claiming four games at all three doubles positions. San Diego State pushed the top two singles matches to a second-set tiebreaker before falling. At number one singles, SDSU's Achim Ceban battled Robert Farah, the nation's 27th-ranked player, before dropping the match, 6-1, 7-6 (5). Meanwhile, Peter Lucassen of USC defeated Juan Gomez at number two singles, 6-2, 7-6 (12).
This marked the fifth nationally-ranked opponent the Aztecs have faced this season . The Aztecs will be back in action on March 4, when they entertain Fresno State at the Aztec Tennis Center.
