FT. WORTH, Texas - The No. 22 ranked TCU Lady Frogs outscored the visiting San Diego State women's basketball team 42-31 in the second half to hand the Aztecs their first conference loss of the season, 80-63, Saturday afternoon at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. SDSU saw its longest win streak since the 1996-97 campaign come to an end at seven games, falling to 11-5 overall and 3-1 in conference action. The Lady Frogs, meanwhile, won their 16th consecutive home game to improve to 13-4 and 3-1 in MWC play.

SDSU junior Allison Duffy (Lakeside, Calif.) came off the bench to score a team-best 16 points, including 12 in the second half, on 5-for-11 shooting. Junior Paris Johnson (San Diego, Calif.) added 12 points and a team-best eight rebounds, while senior Jené Morris (San Francisco, Calif.) also had 12 points, before fouling out with 2:12 left in the game.

Both Morris and senior Quenese Davis (Sacramento, Calif.) had three steals apiece, while Coco Davis (Sacramento, Calif.) had a team-best four assists and seven points.

TCU started the afternoon with the hot hand from the field, going up early by making nine of its first 14 shots to lead by 10 points at 23-13. The Aztecs cut their deficit in half with a long-range triple from Quenese Davis and a Bradley lay-up at 23-18. The Lady Frog advantage jumped back up to nine on two occasions, but SDSU continued to keep it close, heading into the locker room trailing by six at 38-32, despite committing 13 first-half turnovers.

The Lady Frogs scored the first five points of the second half to increase its lead back into double-figures and went to as many as 16 on three occasions before getting to 20 at the 10:03 mark. San Diego State got the deficit down to as few as 13 points, but couldn't overcome a 12-for-38 shooting performance (31.6 percent) in the second half.

The Aztecs owned a +5 margin on the boards, with 21 on the offensive glass, but had 23 turnovers and failed to reach the 40-mark in field-goal percentage for the first time in 10 outings.

TCU had two players score over 20 points, as Helena Sverrisdottir scored a game-high 22 and Emily Carter had 21. The Lady Frogs ended the afternoon shooting 7-for-16 from beyond the arc and made 21-of-27 free throws.

San Diego State returns to Viejas Arena for a Wednesday evening contest against another conference foe, Utah, beginning at 7 p.m. PT. The first of two meetings between the Aztecs and Utes will be televised live on CBS College Sports.
