SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's water polo team enters the 2010 season ranked seventh nationally in the Collegiate Water Polo Association 2010 Varsity Preseason Top-20 Poll.

SDSU, which finished eighth in the final 2009 poll, earned 67 points. Topping the poll is Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foe Stanford (97 points) and is followed by fellow MPSF members USC (95), UCLA (92), Hawai'i (84), California (83) and San Jose State (70). Arizona State finds itself behind the Aztecs in eighth place (61), giving the MPSF the top eight spots in the preseason national poll.

The Aztecs are coming off a 2009 campaign in which they finished with a 23-11 record, their fourth straight 20-win season and 12th in the last 15 years. Returning in 2010 is All-American sophomore goalkeeper Kelly Campoli, whose 300 saves a year ago were the fourth-most in the school's single-season record book. Also back is senior Ronni Gautschi, who returns as the team's leader in goals and assists.

San Diego State gets its season underway on Saturday, Jan. 23, when it takes on UC San Diego and third-ranked UCLA at the Michigan Kick-Off in Ann Arbor, Mich. The game with the Tritons is set for 8:30 a.m. ET, while the showdown with the Bruins is scheduled for a 6:15 p.m. ET start.
