THIS WEEK
The San Diego State Aztec swimming and diving team will continue home action with a double dual meet against non-conference opponents Boise State and Tulane on Thursday, Jan. 7, at 12:00 p.m. at the Aztec Aquaplex. The meet will feature a 16-event program including diving.

LAST TIME OUT
The Aztecs improved to 8-1 on the season wins over Oregon State and UNLV at the Aztec Aquaplex on Dec. 19. SDSU captured first place in seven individual events and also turned in the top times in both relays. Leona Jennings took first place in both the 100 and 200 backstroke with times of 55.90 and 2:01.38 respectively. She later added a first-place finish in the 200 individual medley (2:05.15). Katelyn Weddle was San Diego State's other double winner as she took top spot in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke. Her marks in those events were 1:03.28 and 2:17.97. The Aztecs' other individual first-place finishes came from Brooke Vessey (100 butterfly in 56.92) and Stephanie Koch (100 freestyle in 51.60).

TOP-THREE RELAY TIMES
During the double dual meet against UNLV and Oregon State on Dec. 19, SDSU relay teams turned in marks that rank as the third-fastest times in SDSU history. In the 200 medley relay, the foursome of Leona Jennings, Katelyn Weddle, Kim Bierwith and Emilee Jennings turned in a time of 1:44.53. In the 400 free relay team, the quartet of Stephanie Koch, Emilee Jennings, Meghan Zimmer and Petra Radovic went 3:29.39.

AQUAPLEX RECORDS
San Diego State swimmers set five individual and one relay Aztec Aquaplex records during the meet on Dec. 19. So far this season they have recorded eight individual and two relay pool records:

San Diego State has moved up to 34th in the December national poll released by the Collegiate Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). The Aztecs had been ranked 41st in the November poll, marking the first time the program had ever received votes in the national poll. The CSCAA will release its poll twice monthly beginning in January.

SCHOOL RECORDS
San Diego State swimmers have set new school records in 11 of 14 individual events and two of the five relays after the first half of the 2009-10 season. Nine of those 11 individual school standards are now held by swimmers who are freshmen this season. The other two are held by seniors. The complete list of new SDSU records is as follows:

Freshmen Leona Jennings and Katelyn Weddle have recorded times this fall that rank among the top 50 in the nation this season. Jennings' nationally ranked times include 54.22 in the 100 back (14th), 1:57.57 in the 200 back (21st) and 2:01.04 in the 200 individual medley (35th). Weddle has turned in marks of 1:01.45 in the 100 breast (10th) and 2:14 20 in the 200 breast (20th). All five of those times meet the 'B' Qualifying Standard for the NCAA Championships next March.

In addition, three Aztec relay teams have recorded times that rank among the top 30 in the country in Division I this fall. The 800 free relay foursome of Stephanie Koch, Meghan Zimmer, Petra Radovic and Jessica Crider have turned in a 7:26.35 to rank 27th nationally. In the 200 medley relay, Leona Jennings, Katelyn Weddle, Kim Bierwith and Stephanie Koch's mark of 1:41.93 is the 23rd-best time in Division I. And the 400 medley quartet of Stephanie Koch, Leona Jennings, Emilee Jennings and Kim Bierwith ranks 28th with a mark of 3:44.42. The 800 free and 200 medley teams have met the 'B' Qualifying Standard as well.

ON DECK
San Diego State resumes Mountain West Conference action when it travels to Provo, Utah, to face preseason league favorite Brigham Young on Thursday, Jan. 14, at 4:00 p.m. (MT). Two days later (Saturday, Jan. 16), the Aztecs will be in Salt Lake City to face Utah at 3:00 p.m. (MT).
