SAN DIEGO - San Diego State senior guard Quenese Davis (Sacramento, Calif.) has been named the Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. Davis had a career-high 26 points on 10-of-13 shooting to help the Aztecs overcome an early nine-point deficit and defeat host Loyola Marymount, 75-54, on Dec. 21.

With SDSU trailing by nine in the first half, Davis scored five straight points to pull the team to within four and went on to record 17 of the Aztecs' 26 first-half points. She ended the evening shooting 76.9 percent from the field (10-for-13), bolstered by a perfect 2-for-2 performance from beyond the arc. Davis also tied for the team lead with eight rebounds, had a game-high four steals and posted five assists against only two turnovers.

The 26 points are one more than her previous career high for scoring in a game of 25 vs. New Mexico last year and No. 5/6 Notre Dame this season. Davis has scored 20 or more points in each of SDSU's last two games and in four outings overall in 2009-10. She is second on the team in scoring with 12.9 points per game, while she boasts a conference-best 5.1 assists per contest.

It is the second career MWC award for Davis, who is the school's all-time assists leader. She is also the first Aztec honored by the conference in 2009-10.

San Diego State is playing host to the four-team San Diego Surf `N Slam, Dec. 28 and 30, at Viejas Arena. The Aztecs will face Wake Forest in the first game Monday at 5 p.m. PT, while Auburn will take on Valparaiso in the nightcap at 7 p.m. The consolation and championship contests are also set for 5 and 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening.
