Updated SDSU Fall Classic II Brackets in PDF Format
San Diego State's doubles play was solid on the first day of the SDSU Fall Classic II at Aztec Tennis Center. The Scarlet and Black won all three of their doubles matches and posted three wins in singles on Friday.
Roxanne Ellison and Sierra Ellison continued their strong fall play on the opening day of the tournament as they dispatched their UC Irvine counterparts, Brooke Bartlett and Kristina Smith, 8-2. SDSU teammates Naseem Eslami and Olivia Colman experienced similar success against the Anteater duo of Hannah Holladay and Hayley Young as they cruised to an 8-4 victory. Emma Cioffi and Julia Wais, meanwhile, won their first match together by defeating the UCI tandem of Rebecca Kwan and Miranda Young, 8-6.
Following doubles action, the tourney turned to singles play where Wais, Eslami and Cioffi were all winners. The freshman Wais was a 6-4, 7-5 victor over Smith, while Eslami breezed to a 6-2, 6-0 decision over Young. Cioffi joined the aforementioned duo in the win column by emerging with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Brittany Parks of Oklahoma.
The second edition of the Fall Classic will resume on Saturday at Aztec Tennis Center beginning at 9 a.m. PT.
