COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State middle blocker Lauren Salisbury has been named a member of the 2009 all-Mountain West Conference volleyball team as selected by the league's nine head coaches. The junior from Southlake, Texas, (Carroll HS) earned the award for the second straight season after being named to the squad following the 2008 campaign.
Salisbury finished the season ranked fourth in hitting percentage in all matches at .350 and her .315 mark in conference play was second-best in the MWC. With one non-league match remaining, she is averaging 2.54 kills, 0.91 blocks and 0.30 digs per set. Her final conference averages included 2.56 kills, 0.77 blocks and 0.30 digs per set.
Salisbury's three-year hitting percentage of .328 currently ranks fifth on the San Diego State career list. This fall she has turned in hitting percentages of .300 or higher on 18 occasions and has cracked the .400 mark in attack percentage in nine matches.
In addition to her all-conference accolade, Salisbury also earned all-tournament honors at one in-season tournament during the 2009 campaign. She was named to the all-tournament team at USF Asics/Coca-Cola Challenge hosted by the University of San Francisco in early September.
San Diego State concludes its season with a match at UC Santa Barbara this evening (Tues., Nov. 24) at 6:00 p.m. (PT).
