2009 Turtle Bay Resort College Invitational Day One Results in PDF Format

The San Diego State women's golf team is in eighth place overall, just five strokes out of fifth, after the opening round Monday of the 2009 Turtle Bay Resort College Invitational in Kahuku, Hawaii.

The Aztecs shot an opening round 9-under 297 at the par-72, 6,261-yard George Fazio Course. They trail seventh-place Long Beach State by just one stroke and are five behind No. 1 ranked UCLA and Oregon, who are tied for fifth at 4-over 292.

SDSU has two players in the top 18 with sophomore Malin Enarsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) tying for 13th at even-par 72 and junior Stephanie Arcala (Oceanside, Calif.) tying for 18th with a 73. The pair both posted three birdies on the afternoon to make the turn at 1-under par.

True freshmen Gina Clark (Murrietta, Calif.) and Christine Wong (Surrey, B.C.) are tied for 43rd place at 4-over 76, while junior Samantha Roberts (Carlsbad, Calif.) is two strokes behind them with a 78 to tie for 62nd place out of the 94 golfers.

UC Davis, ranked 37th nationally, leads the team competition on the women's side by a whopping seven strokes with a 7-under 281, while Aggie Alice Kim has a one-stroke lead on the individual leaderboard with an opening effort of 5-under 67.

The Turtle Bay Resort College Invitational continues Tuesday with the second of three rounds, starting with tee times ranging from approximately 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. HT for both the men's and women's fields. Live stats are available on goaztecs.com, as well as golfstat.com.
