TEAM NOTES

  • San Diego State improves to 2-1 on the season and has gone 38 consecutive games in the month of November without suffering a two-game losing streak. The last time the Aztecs lost two in a row in November occurred in the first two games of the 2002-03 season.
  • The Aztecs improve to 9-2 following a loss since their season-ending loss at Florida in the first round of the 2008 NIT.
  • San Diego State has won 10 in a row and 17 of its last 19 against non-conference opponents at home. SDSU has also won 11 straight at home vs. unranked non-Mountain West Conference teams.
  • The Aztecs improved to 30-2 in their last 32 games when scoring 70 or more points. San Diego State also upped its record to 36-11 in its last 47 games when outrebounding the other team.
  • SDSU's 45 rebounds were tied for its fifth-most in Viejas Arena history. It was the most since by San Diego State in the arena since Dec. 3, 2005, when it had 47 against Point Loma Nazarene.

  • Billy White reached double figures for the second straight game ... He has 29 career double-figure scoring efforts ... His 17 points is a season high, as is his eight rebounds ... White is now averaging 7.5 rebounds per game.
  • Kawhi Leonard, who narrowly missed his first double-double, grabbed seven or more rebounds for the third consecutive game and it was his first double-figure rebounding effort of his career ... He is the first true freshman to collect 10 or more boards since Billy White grabbed 12 at Wyoming on Feb. 19, 2008 ... The freshman's 13 rebounds is the most since Ryan Amoroso had 15 against Utah in last season's MWC championship game ... Leonard posted a career high in points scored (nine) and assists (four).
  • Tyrone Shelley posted a season-high 12 points tonight ... It is the first time he has scored in double figures as an Aztec and the 23rd time of his career.
  • D.J. Gay led the team in assists for the third time in as many games ... Gay has led the team in assists 15 times in his career and just six times last season as a sophomore ... The junior reached the double-figure plateau in scoring for the second straight game ... Gay's three steals matches his career high, something he had accomplished twice before.
  • Chase Tapley posted his second double-figure scoring effort of his young career ... He had 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting (2-for-2 from beyond the 3-point arc) in 22 minutes.
  • Brian Carlwell matched his career high with six rebounds ... The junior had six while at Illinois against Austin Peay on Nov. 13, 2006.
  • Malcolm Thomas dished out three assists, which is a season high ... Thomas came into the game with two for the season ... He also added a season-high three blocks.
  • Kelvin Davis had a season-high 11 points tonight ... He was 3-for-6 from the 3-point line.
