THIS WEEK
The San Diego State swimming team returns to action this week as it travels to Long Beach, Calif., to compete in the annual Toshiba Classic from Thursday through Saturday (Nov. 19-21). The meet, formerly known as the Nike Cup, will take place at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool and is hosted by UC San Diego. Among the teams competing are defending national champion Cal, Stanford, UCLA and Oregon State from the Pac-10 along with BYU, New Mexico and Utah from the Mountain West Conference plus Hawai'i, Loyola Marymount and University of San Diego. The San Diego State divers are scheduled to compete at the Wildcat Diving Invitational on Friday and Saturday (Nov. 20-21). That competition is hosted by the University of Arizona in Tucson.

LAST TIME OUT
The Aztecs picked up a trio of dual meet wins when it hosted TCU, Idaho, UC San Diego and University of San Diego at the Aztec Aquaplex on Nov. 5. SDSU defeated TCU, Idaho and UC San Diego, but did not swim against USD as the schools will meet later in the season. With those three victories, San Diego State improved to 5-1 on the season and 3-1 in the Mountain West Conference. The Aztecs turned in the top times in 11 of the 14 swimming events during the meet.

NEW RECORDS
During that five-team meet on Nov. 5, three SDSU school records were set. Senior Petra Radovic set the Aztec marks in the 500 free (4:55.66) and 1000 freestyle (10:10.17) while freshman Meghan Zimmer established a new SDSU record in the 200 freestyle (1:50.49). The former record in the 500 free had stood since the 1981-82 season when Kim Palmer swam a 4:56.37.

MWC SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Senior Petra Radovic was named the Mountain West Conference Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 10 for her performance during the meet held at SDSU on Nov. 6. Radovic, who hails from Zagreb, Croatia, set the two school records and also swam the third leg of the Aztecs' 400-yard free relay team that won with a time of 3:30.36. That relay time ranks as the fourth best time in program history.

MWC TOP TIMES
After the first three weeks of the season, three Aztec swimmers have turned in the top times in the Mountain West Conference in their respective events. That list includes:

Petra Radovic....1000 free......10:10.17Leona Jennings...200 Back..........56.41Katelyn Weddle...100 Breast......1:03.75Katelyn Weddle...200 Breast......2:19.16Leona Jennings...200 IM..........2:04.48

All told, SDSU swimmers have turned in a total of 22 of the league's top 10 times in 11 events.

THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME
After a 3-0 start in home dual-meets this fall, SDSU's record at the Aztec Aquaplex stands at 12-3 since the facility opened in the spring of 2008. The Aztecs were 3-0 during the season in which the facility opened (2007-08) and 6-3 last year. All three losses at the Aquaplex have come in conference action. This season San Diego State has seven home dual meets remaining on its schedule including one league contest.

ON DECK
SDSU will have a week off from competition as it prepares to host a dual meet against Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 1:00 p.m. (PT) at the Aztec Aquaplex.
