San Diego State posted its fourth straight victory and extended its unbeaten streak to 12 games with its 1-0 decision over UNLV on Sunday afternoon at Peter Johann Memorial Field. With the win, the Aztecs improve to 11-3-5 overall (4-0-2 Mountain West Conference) and remain in the hunt for the MWC regular season crown.

The result ties the school record for most matches played without a loss. The 1998 squad went 12 consecutive games without suffering a defeat and went 12-0 in the process. That team won the Western Athletic Conference and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. Additionally, SDSU's current four-game winning streak is the program's longest since September of 2002 and the win over UNLV snaps two-game losing skid to the Rebels and a four-game losing streak in Las Vegas.

For the third straight game, the Aztecs scored within the first 10 minutes to take an early lead. With contest just barely seven minutes old, Jessica Gordon found the back of the net at 7:04 to record her third goal of the season and third point in the last two games. The sequence unfolded when there was a loose ball in the box that UNLV goalkeeper Alicia Lugo could not get her hands on, which opened the way for Gordon. The senior from Tujunga, Calif., then entered the box, put a quality shot on goal from five yards out and ultimately gave San Diego State a 1-0 advantage that would hold up for the rest of the game.

SDSU finished with a narrow 12-11 edge in shots and was even with UNLV in corner kicks with three apiece. Individually, Cat Walker led the Aztecs in shots with three, while Gordon and Niki Fernandes each had two shots with one coming on net. Goalkeeper Aubree Southwick was stellar once again in a starting role as she made five saves and notched her eighth shutout. Her eight shutouts ranks fourth on the school's single-season top 10 and her 21 career shutouts is just 2.5 shy of tying the program record.

The Aztecs, who are 8-0-4 in their last 12 outings, will conclude their regular season schedule on Friday, Oct. 30, when they take on TCU in Fort Worth, Texas. Game time is set for 7 p.m. CT.
