The San Diego State women's tennis team is set to co-host the Wilson/ITA Southwest Regional Championships at Barnes Tennis Center with the University of San Diego. The five-day tourney is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. PT on Thursday.
The regional tournament will feature Division I women's programs south of Santa Barbara, Calif., including UC Santa Barbara, and as far east as the two Pac-10 Conference Arizona schools.
The doubles draw will start with the round of 64, while singles will open with the round of 128. Doubles will kick things off each day and will be followed by singles shortly thereafter.
Julia Trunk leads the Aztecs into their second fall tournament of 2009-10 as the Championships 16th-seeded singles player. The junior will be joined by Emma Cioffi, Olivia Colman, Roxanne Ellison, Sierra Ellison, Naseem Eslami and Julia Wais in the singles draw. In the doubles bracket, Trunk and Wais will be paired together, as will Colman and Eslami and the Ellison sisters.
