SAN DIEGO - San Diego State will play host to a men's and women's basketball select-a-seat preview on Friday, Oct. 16, from 6-8 p.m. PT at Viejas Arena. Fans interested in purchasing season ticket packages or men's basketball mini-plans will be able to get a sneak peak at both teams as they officially open the 2009-10 season with their first practice of the year.

The select-a-seat and open practice is a free event, but $1-per-hour parking permits should be purchased at Parking Structure 5 (PS 5), which is on the corner of 55th and Montezuma Rd.

Fans who attend the event will be able to catch the last half of women's practice, which is slated to conclude at approximately 6:45 p.m. Following the workout, head coach Beth Burns will introduce her club and give way to men's coach Steve Fisher, who will do the same. After Fisher presents his team, those in attendance will have the opportunity to watch the first half of men's practice.

Fans who are interested in purchasing season tickets will have the chance on this night as the Aztec Ticket Office will have representatives located at Section R in front of the Viejas Arena Mezzanine Suite. Men's basketball season ticket packages start at $99, while mini-plans begin at $30. On the women's side, season ticket packages start at $60.

Those who purchase season tickets or mini-plans at this special event will have the opportunity to attend a special free lunch with Coach Burns and Coach Fisher at Outback Steakhouse in Mission Valley on one of the following two dates, Oct. 21 or Oct. 28, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Additionally, current season ticket holders bringing a friend to purchase a season ticket or mini-plan package at the event will also receive the chance to attend one of the lunches at Outback Steakhouse.

All fans who are interested in attending the one-time event must RSVP by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15. Reservations can be made by calling the SDSU Ticket Office at (619) 283-7378.

Both teams are expected to challenge for the Mountain West Conference crown. The men were picked by Sporting News to finish atop the conference and were second in the MWC preseason media poll released earlier this week. The women, meanwhile, were picked to win the league title in the Mountain West's preseason coaches and media poll and find themselves ranked No. 22 nationally by a pair of preseason basketball publications.
