Final Round Results - 2009 CU Heather Farr Memorial Invite in PDF Format

The San Diego State women's golf team had three players finish in the top 15 to help the Aztecs place third on Tuesday afternoon at the CU Heather Farr Memorial Invitational in Erie, Colo. SDSU posted a two-day effort of 37-over 901, which ties for sixth place on the school's all-time record list for a 54-hole tournament.

The Aztecs were in second place after the completion of the second round earlier in the morning, but dropped to third after Nebraska carded a field-best 288 over the final 18 holes at the par-72, 6,352-yard Colorado National Golf Course. SDSU ended up seven strokes behind the Cornhuskers and No. 43 Texas Tech ran away with the team title by 12 strokes with an 18-over 882.

SDSU junior Samantha Roberts (Carlsbad, Calif.) logged her best-ever finish in a 54-hole event, tying for eighth place with a 7-over 223, including a 76 in each of the final two rounds. She had seven birdies over the two days and just one double-bogey.

Aztec freshman Christine Wong (Richmond, B.C.) jumped 17 spots over the final 18 holes into a tie for 11th place with a 9-over 225, bolstered by her even-par 72, which her best round of the tournament. Wong was at 2-under through the first 10 holes, but then double bogeyed and bogeyed consecutive holes. She bounced back with another birdie on the par-4 eighth hole to finish at even par.

Junior Stephanie Arcala (Oceanside, Calif.) was the third SDSU player to finish in the top 15, as she fired a 10-over 226, capped by a final round 78. Sophomore Malin Enarsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) also jumped on the individual leaderboard over the final 18 holes with back-to-back 76s to tie for 24th place at 13-over 229, while redshirt senior Petra Cole (San Diego, Calif.) rounded out the Aztec contingent in 76th place with a 241.

Texas Tech also won individual medalist honors, as Alex Gibson cruised to a five-stroke victory as the only golfer in under par at 3-under 213.

San Diego State will split its' squad next week, as the `A' team will head to Las Cruces, N.M. for the Price's "Give `Em" Five Invitational, Oct. 12-14, and the `B' squad will participate in the Aztec Fall Classic in Chula Vista, Calif., Oct. 12-13.
