Battling wet and windy conditions, the San Diego State women's golf team, led by junior Samantha Roberts' career-low 71, is currently in fourth place after 18 holes with an 8-over 296 at the CU Heather Farr Memorial Invitational in Erie, Colo. Only four teams were able to finish Monday's second of two rounds, which is scheduled to be completed Tuesday morning at the par-72, 6,352-yard Colorado National Golf Club.

The Aztecs are just one stroke behind third place Nebraska (295), six in back of second place Texas Tech (290) and nine behind Southern Methodist, which was the only team to break par among the 20 schools at 1-under 287.

After being led by a pair of underclassmen at its season-opening event last month, the San Diego State junior tandem of Roberts (Carlsbad, Calif.) and Stephanie Arcala (Oceanside, Calif.) carded the top two rounds for the Aztecs. Roberts is tied for fourth place, just one stroke off the lead, with an opening effort of 1-under 71, which is her first career sub-par round. She birdied the par-4 10th and 11th holes, as well as the par-3 14th to offset her pair of bogeys.

Arcala, meanwhile, also had three birdies in the opening round, but ended up with a respectable 2-over 74 to tie for 17th place with three other golfers. Redshirt senior Petra Cole (San Diego, Calif.) is the third Aztec in the top 25, as she fired a 3-over 75 to tie for 21st place following her first 18 holes of golf this season.

SDSU true freshman Christine Wong (Richmond, B.C.) is tied for 32nd place with a 76, while sophomore Malin Enarsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) is tied for 40th with a 77, after an uncharacteristic first five holes that saw her bogey four of them.

Three golfers are currently tied for first place atop the individual leaderboard, including Minnesota's Michelle Edlin, Texas Tech's Alex Gibson and SMU's Tanya Wadhwa, at 2-under-70.

Teams will complete the second round beginning Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. MT and then will immediately start the final 18 holes of the 54-hole event, which is in its 12th season. Live stats will also be available for Tuesday's final day at www.golfstat.com.
