Sept. 28, 2009

The first 20,000 fans through the gates Saturday (Oct. 3) at Qualcomm Stadium for SDSU's game against New Mexico State will receive a Brian Sipe San Diego State Replica Jersey, presented by Associated Students. Last season, 26,851 showed up to watch the Aztecs and Cal Poly play on Marshall Faulk Replica Jersey Giveaway night.

Sipe, who wore number 9 while at San Diego State from 1969-71, completed 436-of-788 passes for 5,707 yards and 44 touchdowns. He compiled a 15-7 record as a starter and his 68.2 winning percentage is the third highest in the school's Division I era. Sipe was a two-time honorable mention All-American and was a member of the 1969 undefeated 11-0 squad that won the Pasadena Bowl.

In 1972 Sipe was picked by the Cleveland Browns and went on to play 12 seasons in the NFL. Sipe earned league MVP honors in 1980 and was named first team all-pro, leading the Browns to an 11-5 record. During that season he completed more than 60 percent of his passes, threw for 4,132 yards and 30 touchdowns, which gave him a league-best 91.4 passer rating. Sipe was inducted into the Aztec Hall of Fame in 1988 and received the same honor from the Cleveland Browns Hall of Fame in 2002.

Tickets start at $11 and are available online at GoAztecs.com, Ticketmaster.com, in person at the SDSU Qualcomm Stadium ticket office (window E) or any Southern California Ticketmaster outlet and by phone at 619-283-SDSU (7378).
