Senior Rachel Williams took 13th to pace the San Diego State cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the 65th annual Aztec Invitational presented by the Courtyard Marriott San Diego Central Saturday morning at historic Balboa Park.
The Aztecs finished with 113 points during the hot and muggy morning, two ahead of San Diego (115) and just three places behind Long Beach State (110). 16th-ranked Northern Arizona won the 12-team meet with 29 points, while San Francisco finished runner-up (43).
Williams completed the 5,000-meter course in 19 minutes, 10 seconds. She was joined in the top 25 by freshman Marianne Hogan (18th, 19:39) and junior Sara Beyers (25th, 19:53).
Junior Michelle Martinez (20:04), freshman Jordan Davis (20:08) and sophomore Josefine Koskinen (20:15), finished 31st, 35th and 37th, respectively, while sophomore Amy Brown shaved 1:09 off last year's time to take 51st in 21:05.
Freshman Sabrina Rathor (62nd, 21:48), sophomore Missy Bunn (64th, 21:56) and senior Makenzie Mabry (70th, 22:28) also competed for SDSU.
San Diego State is scheduled to compete in the competitive Stanford Invitational at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Palo Alto, Calif.
