COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The San Diego State women's soccer team has been predicted to finish in fourth place in the Mountain West Conference in a vote by the league's coaches, the MWC announced Monday morning.

The Aztecs earned 30 points and were picked to finish behind Brigham Young (40 points; 7 first-place votes), TCU (39 points; 1 first-place vote) and Utah (39 points). UNLV found itself behind SDSU in fifth place (28 points) as did New Mexico (6th; 18 points), Wyoming (7th; 14 points) and Air Force (8th; 7 points).

San Diego State returns nine starters and 16 letterwinners in 2009, including 2008 first-team all-Mountain West performer Cat Walker and second-team choice Jessica Gordon. Walker, a junior, led the team in goals (10) and points (23) in 2008, while Gordon enters her senior season as the Aztecs' second-leading returner in goals scored (5) and points (12).

San Diego State opens the season at SDSU Sports Deck with a short two-game homestand, which begins on Friday, Aug. 21, against Fresno State at 4 p.m. PT. Following its match with the Bulldogs, the Aztecs play host to Cal State Northridge on Sunday, Aug. 23, at 1 p.m.
