COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State junior middle blocker Lauren Salisbury (Carroll HS, Southlake, Texas) has been named to the 2009 preseason all-Mountain West Conference volleyball team in a vote conducted among the league coaches and media.
An all-conference selection in 2008, Salisbury finished among the top 10 in league-match statistics in hitting percentage (.320), blocking (1.16 per set) and points (3.48 per set). She led the Aztecs in hitting with a .344 percentage and enters the 2009 season ranked sixth on the SDSU career list in that category at .319. Salisbury earned all-tournament recognition at the Aztec Invitational and Baylor Classic to open the 2008 season and recorded an attack percentage of .300 or better in 15 contests.
In other volleyball news, San Diego State has been picked to finish seventh in the Mountain West Conference in 2009 in a poll conducted among the league coaches and selected media. Defending champ Utah was chosen to defend its title while Colorado State was projected as runner-up.
