SAN DIEGO - Four San Diego State water polo players and the team as a whole earned All-Academic recognition from the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) for the 2009 season. This marks the eighth straight year SDSU has had a member honored and the 10th time in the last 11 seasons in which the Aztecs have had multiple players recognized for their achievements in the classroom.

Kelly Campoli, a freshman goalkeeper out of Lake Forest, Calif., earned her way onto the ACWPC All-Academic Superior team, which requires a grade-point average (GPA) of 3.41-3.70. Her Superior team appointment marks the fourth straight year in which San Diego State has had an athlete earn that classification. Campoli is also the seventh Aztec in that four-year span to garner Superior accolades.

Meanwhile, the trio of Sarah Brady (driver), Anna Gonzales (utility) and Jenna Schuster (driver), were all named to the All-Academic Excellent squad. Like Campoli, all three earned their first career ACWPC academic awards for having GPAs ranging from 3.20-3.40.

For Campoli, Gonzales and Schuster, the academic awards come on the heels of being named to the ACWPC All-America team nearly two weeks ago.

San Diego State as a team was one of 29 schools, across all divisions of collegiate water polo, recognized by the ACWPC for having one of the top GPAs nationally. SDSU was also one of only four Mountain Pacific Sports Federation schools to be honored in the eight-team league.
