SAN DIEGO -
San Diego State basketball player LaSandra Dixon, who completed her Aztec career this past March, will be inducted into the Azusa High School Hall of Fame on Wed., June 10, in Azusa, Calif. The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. at Azusa Pacific University.
Dixon is one of just two inductees in this year's Azusa athletic Hall of Fame class. The Hall of Fame started in 2003, and prior to this year, included only 14 former Azusa High School athletes.
Dixon starred for the Azusa Aztecs from 2002-05, garnering four letters in basketball under coaches Joe Scherf and Brad Dolin. She was a two-time league MVP, four-time all-conference pick and as a senior, averaged 18.4 points, 3.4 assists and 4.2 steals per contest to garner first-team all-CIF honors. Dixon became the school's first female student-athlete to earn an NCAA Division I college athletic scholarship when she signed with San Diego State in November 2004.
At SDSU, Dixon would play in 97 career outings, starting on 12 occasions. She helped the Aztec basketball program go from a 3-24 record her freshman season in 2005-06, to a 24-8 mark her senior season in 2008-09, when she served as team captain.
Dixon enjoyed her most productive season in 2007-08, playing 23 games and starting each of the team's final eight contests, including at the Mountain West Conference Championships.
A scholar-athlete, she earned her bachelor's degree in social science from SDSU last month.
