SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's soccer team recently completed an undefeated spring season with a 7-0-2 record. Of their nine contests, the Aztecs earned a remarkable seven shutouts, outscoring their opponents, 16-2.
SDSU outplayed its opponents in almost every facet and owned decisive advantages in shots, corner kicks and time of possession.
San Diego State began its spring campaign on Feb. 21 with a 1-0 victory over University of Alberta (Canada).
The Aztecs then played a doubleheader on March 21 where they went 1-0-1. SDSU settled for a 0-0 tie against San Diego in the opener before shutting out Cal State Fullerton, 2-0, in the nightcap.
The following week, SDSU made the short drive north for the Temecula Showcase Event where it knocked off Bakersfield PDL, 2-1.
San Diego State had another solid weekend on April 17-19, going 2-0-1, highlighted by a 5-0 triumph over the Canada U-17 squad on the 17th. Two days later, the Aztecs played to a 1-1 draw against UC Riverside but then came back to pick up a 2-0 shutout over UC San Diego.
SDSU wrapped up its play in its non-traditional season on April 25 with shutouts over Point Loma Nazarene (2-0) and Cal State San Marcos (1-0).
