LAKE NATOMA, Calif, - The San Diego State rowing team completed its season with a second-place finish by the second novice eight boat at the WIRA Championships Sunday on the shores of Lake Natoma, Calif. The San Diego State rowing team completed its season with a second-place finish by the second novice eight boat at the WIRA Championships Sunday on the shores of Lake Natoma, Calif.
The Aztecs' boat covered the 2,000-meter course in 7 minutes, 29.7 seconds to outdistance UC Santa Barbara (7:31.9), San Diego (7:36.9). Humboldt State (7:45.2), Sacramento State (7:52.2) and UC San Diego (8:31.3). UC Davis won the race with a time of 7:24.7.
SDSU also finished third of six in the second varsity eight race, fourth in the varsity four, fifth in the novice eight and sixth in the varsity eight race.
The 7:14.1 clocking in the second varsity eight race was seven seconds behind the winner Gonzaga (7:07.1).
