SAN DIEGO - San Diego State juniors Mary Anne Hinman (Soquel, Calif./Monte Vista Christian HS), Jaime Hinton (Eugene, Ore./South Eugene HS) and Christina Mattos (Livermore, Calif./Granada HS) have each been named a national scholar-athlete by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA). Hinman and Hinton each earned their second straight award, while Mattos was picked for the first time.

"I am very proud of these three student-athletes as their success in the classroom is outstanding," head coach Jennifer Zebroski said. "Their hard work and dedication to academics is unwavering. They are a true example to all students at SDSU."

To be eligible for this prestigious award, the student-athlete must be in her second, third or fourth year of eligibility and have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. In addition, the student-athlete must have rowed for the team's eligible boat in at least 75 percent of the spring season with the institution's head coach in good standing with CRCA.

Hinman and Hinton are each studying kinesiology at San Diego State, while Mattos is a psychology major.
