San Diego State Softball to Play Host to UNLV Saturday for Senior Day
The San Diego State softball team plays host to UNLV Saturday in its final regular season game of the 2009 campaign. The Aztecs (32-18, 9-5 Mountain West Conference), who are once again receiving votes in both the USA Today/NFCA and ESPN.com/USA Softball national polls, will meet the Rebels (31-18, 7-7 MWC) at 1 p.m.

SDSU will honor seniors Taryin Casillas (San Diego/Grossmont HS), Erin Floros (San Diego/Mt. Carmel HS), Christine Kulick (Aliso Viejo, Calif.), Tonye McCorkle (Santa Ana Heights, Calif.) and Dani Sidoti (Tucson, Ariz.) in a special ceremony immediately following the contest.

The Aztecs, who have already wrapped up second place in league play by outscoring the opposition, 66-31, await a possible bid to the NCAA tournament as an at-large selection. The selection show will be broadcast live on ESPNews beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Floros, a 2006 All-American, continues to lead the Aztec offense with a .355 batting average in 36 games (all starts). Floros, who missed 14 games earlier this season with a bout of appendicitis, also leads the squad in home runs (4), RBI (27), slugging percentage (.514) and on-base percentage (.435), while boasting a perfect fielding percentage and .993 career fielding percentage, the best in school history. Junior Brittany Knudsen (San Diego/Escondido HS), the all-time program leader in walks (78), is batting .307, while leading the squad in hits (46, tied), doubles (13), walks (27) and stolen bases (11). McCorkle (.301) is also above .300 and paces SDSU in at-bats (153), runs (21, tied), hits (46, tied) and total bases (63).

The 1-2 pitching punch of freshman Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif.) (18-6, 1.50 ERA, 167.2 IP) and sophomore Samantha Beasley (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) (14-12, 1.99 ERA, 183.0 IP) continue to improve in the circle for SDSU and boast the 22nd-lowest team ERA (1.76) in the nation.

San Diego State leads the all-time series between the two schools, 43-34, including a 12-4 advantage over the last 16 meetings. The Aztecs are 5-1 at home since the 2006 campaign.
