INDIANAPOLIS - The No. 22 San Diego State earned a bid to the NCAA men's golf regional for the 11th consecutive year when the Aztecs were selected to compete in the West Regional championships, May 14-16, in Daly City, Calif. as announced by the NCAA on Monday. SDSU received the No. 4 seed out of 13 teams in the West Regional, which will be contested on the 6,863 yard, par-72 Lake Merced Golf Club.

The Aztecs are among 81 NCAA Division I schools invited to play in one of six regional events. The other five regional tournaments will be held concurrently in Austin, Texas (Southwest Regional), Bowling Green, Ky. (Central Regional), Galloway, N.J. (Northeast Regional), Sorrento, Fla. (Southeast Regional) and Stillwater, Okla. (South Central Regional). The West Regional will consist of 54 holes over a three-day period with 18 holes conducted each day. The top five teams and the low individual not on an advancing team will move on from each regional to the championship finals, which will be held May 26-30 at the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio.

SDSU is making its 14th appearance in the tournament since the field was expanded to include regional competition in 1989 and will be looking to advance to the national championships for the 20th time in school history. The Aztecs have advanced to the championship series four times (1999, 2003, 2005 and 2008) since the regional format made its debut.
