Aztecs To Play Host To Washington For Final Home Match
The San Diego State women's tennis team will host Washington on April 10 at 2 p.m. PT, on senior day. The match between the Huskies and the Aztecs will be the final home match for SDSU this season.

Scouting The Huskies
Washington is fresh off a 4-3 loss to No. 7 USC on April 4. With the loss, the Huskies dropped to 12-7 overall and 1-5 in Pac-10. No. 35 Washington boasts two ranked singles players and one ranked doubles team. Sophomore Venise Chan is ranked 24th, while freshman Denise Dy is 78th. The two ranked players combine to make up the Huskies lone ranked doubles team at No. 60. Jill Hultquist is in her fourth year leading the team with a 32-50 record with Washington.

Series History vs. Washington
SDSU and the Huskies have split the all-time meetings between the two schools, each taking six victories in their match up history. Last season, San Diego State fell to Washington on the road, 6-1.

Aztecs In The Polls
San Diego State is currently ranked 42nd in the nation, according to FILA Collegiate Tennis Rankings released April 7 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). The doubles team of SDSU senior Holly Bagshaw and sophomore Julia Trunk are currently ranked No. 58.

The Aztec Coaches
Peter Mattera is in his 28th season at San Diego State and 16th as head coach of the Scarlet and Black. In 15 seasons, the Aztecs' mentor has guided SDSU to 10 postseason appearances, compiling a record of 243-163 (.596) in the process. Equally impressive is the fact that 13 of his 15 squads have finished with an overall record of .500 or better despite playing one of the toughest schedules in the nation on an annual basis. Lindsey Gamp is in her fourth season as the Aztecs' assistant coach. A four-year letterwinner at SDSU (2000-03), Gamp played on three NCAA tournament teams and guided the Aztecs to a pair of Mountain West Conference regular season titles and a MWC championship crown in 2003.

There's No Place Like Home
Since the opening of the Aztec Tennis Center in 2005, SDSU has won 69 percent of its home matches, posting a 38-16 record. All 16 defeats have come at the hands of teams ranked in the top 60. This year the Aztecs are 9-4 at home.

Ellisons Proving Excellent
Freshman sisters, Sierra and Roxanne Ellison, have combined to become a dominating force in doubles tennis for San Diego State. The Ellisons have tallied an impressive 14-5 spring record and an 18-8 record overall in doubles, while combining for a 4-2 record in MWC conference play. The sisters have been on a roll recently, taking nine out of their last 11 outings.

Last Time Out With The Aztecs
San Diego State traveled to Colorado Springs, Colo. to return to Mountain West Conference action. While in Colorado, the Aztecs faced Wyoming, Colorado State and Air Force. SDSU was able to top all three schools to improve its overall record to 15-5 and 4-2 in conference standings.

2007-08 Review
SDSU finished the 2008 dual-match campaign with a 11-13 overall record and a 3-5 mark in the Mountain West Conference.
