COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The San Diego State women's tennis team took its third victory in as many days with Sunday's win coming over Air Force. The Aztecs topped the Falcons, 4-1, in Colorado Springs on Sunday morning.
In doubles action, SDSU took an early lead by taking the doubles point. The 58th-ranked doubles team of Holly Bagshaw and Julia Trunk downed Erlyn Rudico and Katrina Eromin in first doubles, 8-2. In second doubles Roxanne and Sierra Ellison defeated Christine Abayan and Sarah Cassman, 8-1. Air Force's Christen Monreal and Allie Chermel picked up a win over Kathryn Kitts and Olivia Colman in third doubles, 8-4.
SDSU picked up decisions in first, second and third singles while Air Force took fourth singles. Bagshaw downed Monreal, 6-0, 6-1, in first singles as Trunk got past Abayan in second singles, 7-6, (3), 6-2. Cadua took down Chermel in third singles, 6-3, 6-1. In fourth singles, Cassman topped Cioffi, 6-3, 7-6 (4), for the Falcons only victory in singles action. In fifth singles, the match between Eromin and Roxanne Ellison was left unfinished as was sixth singles between Shannon Young and Sierra Ellison.
San Diego State will host its final home match on April 10 at 2 p.m. PT. The match against Washington will also serve as Senior Day, honoring the Aztecs' three departing senior players.
