Redshirt senior Taryin Casillas (San Diego/Grossmont HS) and senior All-American Erin Floros (San Diego/Mt. Carmel HS) each homered and drove in four runs to lead the San Diego State softball team to an 11-0 victory over Utah Saturday afternoon in Salt Lake City. The Aztecs (29-14, 6-1 Mountain West Conference), who are receiving votes in both the USA Today/NFCA and ESPN.com/USA Softball polls, have now won 11 of their last 12 games, 18 of their last 21, 20 of their last 24 and 24 of their last 30 contests.

San Diego State has 18 shutouts on the season, four behind the school record of 22 set in 1985, and has outscored its MWC opponents, 33-4, over the seven league games. SDSU set a season high with 14 hits and improved to 24-0 this season when outhitting its opponent.

Casillas had a career-high four hits and a season-high four RBI in a 4-for-5 day at the plate to lead the way. Floros was 3-for-5 with four RBI, which tied her career best.

Sophomore Jen Wisneski (Riverside, Calif.) had two hits, including a two-run double, and scored twice, while senior Tonye McCorkle (Santa Ana Heights, Calif.) and redshirt senior Dani Sidoti (Tucson, Ariz.) each went 2-for-2 with a double. McCorkle stretched her hitting streak to 10 games, as ten different players scored for San Diego State.

Casillas blasted a two-run homer in the top of the first to get the Aztecs on the scoreboard. Freshman Felicia Reifschneider (San Diego/Morse HS), who reached on a walk, also scored on the play, Casillas' second home run of the season and ninth of her career (tied for seventh on career list).

SDSU picked up where it left off with five more runs in the second. The first came on Wisneski's double to right field that plated sophomore Traci Wolf (Lancaster, Calif.) after sophomore Jessica Camello (Temecula, Calif.) had reached on a fielder's choice. Junior Brittany Knudsen (San Diego/Escondido HS) reached on an error to load the bases with no outs. Following a popout, Floros scored Camello on an RBI groundout to put San Diego State up, 4-0. Casillas unloaded the bases with a two-run single and was replaced at first base by speedy junior Stefanie Quichocho-Rosario (San Diego/Morse HS). Quichocho-Rosario stole second and was rewarded with a run when McCorkle stroked a single to left, giving the Aztecs a commanding 7-0 advantage.

After being held scoreless over the next four innings, SDSU got back at it with a four-run seventh frame, highlighted by Floros' three-run homer. The home run, which brought in Sutton and sophomore Taylor Sutton (Gilroy, Calif.), was the 11th of her career, which ties her with two others for fourth on the all-time list. Wisneski's single that scored Sidoti accounted for the other run of the final inning.

Sophomore Samantha Beasley (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) (14-10) allowed two hits, both singles, and three walks in the complete game shutout. She struck out seven and got out of a bases loaded jam in the sixth by striking out the Utes' (17-25, 1-6 MWC) all-time home run leader Kara Foster.

San Diego State will continue its five-game road trip Friday with a game at New Mexico beginning at 7 p.m. MT.
