Aztec freshman Malin Enarsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) tied for 10th place at the 2009 Mountain West Conference Women's Golf Championships in Seaside, Calif., posting a 54-hole total of 15-over 231 at the par-72, 6,027-yard Black Horse Golf Course. Enarsson carded a final round 80 on Saturday morning, but still managed to post SDSU's highest individual finish at the MWC tournament in four years. The Aztecs as a team were unable to move up in the standings, finishing seventh overall with an 82-over 946.

New Mexico claimed the team title for the second consecutive season and the sixth time in 10 years overall, posting a 39-over 903, for an easy 14-stroke win over second place TCU. Wyoming's Jonelle Martinez led after each of the three rounds to win the individual championship with a 5-over 221, edging New Mexico's Britney Choy by two strokes.

Enarsson posted her highest score of the three-day event on Saturday with an 8-over 80. She had four bogeys and a triple bogey on her first nine holes, but a birdie on the par-4 11th preceded a streak of six consecutive pars before ending the round with a bogey on No. 18. Enarsson's 10th-place finish overall is the Aztecs' best at the MWC championships since Jamie Oliver ended up in seventh with a 226 at the 2005 event.

San Diego State's best round in the final 18 holes went to sophomore Stephanie Arcala (Oceanside, Calif.), who bounced back from an 83 on Friday, to fire a 4-over-76 with a pair of birdies. Arcala jumped six spots on the individual leaderboard into a tie for 23rd place at 21-over 237.

Aztec redshirt junior Petra Cole (San Diego, Calif.) saw a reversal of fortunes on Saturday, as a double bogey on the 18th hole left her with a 10-over 82. Cole slid 10 spots into a tie for 23rd with Arcala at 237. Redshirt junior Heather Wilson (Chula Vista, Calif.), who finished 31st with a 246, and senior Maki Kamimura (West Covina, Calif.), who ended her career in 35th with a 248, rounded out the SDSU contingent.
