SAN DIEGO - San Diego State's Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif./Pioneer HS) has been named the Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. It is the second weekly honor for the freshman, fifth pitcher of the week accolade by an Aztec this season and seventh weekly award (pitcher or player of the week) by an SDSU player this year.

A righthander, Micetich went 2-0 in three appearances with a 0.00 ERA to help San Diego State to a 3-1 record last week. She struck out 16 without allowing a walk over 12 2/3 innings, while limiting her opponents to a .152 batting average. All seven hits she gave up were singles as she stretched her scoreless streak to 26 2/3 frames.

On Tuesday, Micetich tossed four scoreless innings, surrendering three singles and striking out six to get the win in a 1-0 Aztec victory over visiting UTEP. On Saturday against New Mexico, Micetich threw a complete game four-hit shutout with nine strikeouts in SDSU's 6-0 triumph over the Lobos to pick up her 12th consecutive win. The following day, Micetich pitched 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief with one strikeout to her credit against New Mexico.

On the season, Micetich is 14-4, the best mark in school history, with a 1.49 ERA over 131 2/3 innings. She has 143 strikeouts against 24 walks for an impressive 5.96 strikeout-to-walk ratio (fifth in single-season history).

San Diego State, which is once again receiving votes in both the USA Today/NFCA poll and the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll, begin a six-game road trip Thursday at conference-leading Brigham Young (7 p.m. MT). The game can be seen live on BYU-TV and via tape delay on The Mtn. on Friday at 4 p.m. PT.
