KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The San Diego State track and field team endured a rain delay and wound up finishing competition at the Sea Ray Relays at Tom Black Track late Friday night on the campus of the University of Tennessee.

In the 100 meters, Karoline Koehler and Jessika Hornsby put up impressive marks, but their results will go down with an asterisk next to them due to the windy conditions in Knoxville. Koehler finished in third place with a time of 11.46, while Hornsby clocked in at 12.12. For Koehler, her performance would have ranked as the second-fastest in SDSU history, would have been a personal record and would have been an NCAA regional qualifying mark. Hornsby's time, meanwhile, would have been a season best.

Rachel Williams was one of the first Aztecs to compete on Friday as she raced in the 3,000-meter run open. The junior finished the 3K in personal-record fashion clocking in at 10:08.44. Cross country teammate and current sophomore Michelle Martinez logged a time of 10:46.39.

Another cross country runner, Alma Escobar, produced an impressive 5,000-meter run showing after crossing the finish line in 18:02.59. Escobar just missed finishing in the top 10, placing 11th after her personal-record performance.

In the open of the hammer throw, Andrea Martinez notched a season-long distance of 164-11, while coming in sixth place. Fellow thrower Michele Dannhausen recorded a discus throw of 141-10 (11th) and was followed by Martinez in 16th place (136-1).

Other Aztecs to compete on the day were two more cross country teammates in Amy Brown and Darien Buc. Brown finished in second place in her heat with a time of 2:18.96 and Buc logged a third-place effort in her section after completing the race in 4:46.45.

In the 100 hurdles, Briana Johnson suffered a little case of bad luck. The sophomore hit the second hurdle in the first heat and was allowed to race again in another heat while posting what would have been an NCAA regional qualifying time of 13.80. Upon review following the race, however, Johnson was disqualified due to meet rules.

San Diego State wraps up Sea Ray Relay action tomorrow beginning at approximately 9:40 a.m. PT.
