SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State track and field team stayed within county lines and competed at the San Diego City Championships at nearby UC San Diego on Saturday. The Aztecs won three events on the day and finished in second place with 195 points.

SDSU dominated the 100-meter hurdles as a pair of Aztecs claimed the top two spots. Freshman Annimari Korte won the event with a time of 14.10, while sophomore Briana Johnson came in second place after crossing the finish line in 14.26.

In the long jump, San Diego State took two of the top three positions with junior Kai Wheeler winning with a leap of 18 feet, 3.25 inches. Freshman Thoraya Maronsey, meanwhile, finished in third place after covering 17-7.00.

The same duo also posted second- and third-place performances in the triple jump with Wheeler taking second after an effort of 37-5.75. Maronsey posted her second third-place jump of the day leaping 37-2.25.

Senior co-captain Michele Dannhausen enjoyed a solid day as she won the javelin throw with a distance of 130-10 and came in second in the discus with a toss of 152-00.

Sophomore Katie Vo also finished in second place, but in the pole vault, with a clearance of 113-75, as did Michelle Martinez in the 1,500 (4:48.97) and Alicia King in the 100 (12.41).

King was also a part of the 4x100-meter relay quartet that finished in second with a time of 47.94.

San Diego State returns to the track March 13-14, as it plays host to the Aztec Invitational at SDSU Sports Deck. Decontee Kaye and Karoline Koehler, meanwhile, will compete for a national championship at the NCAA Indoor Championships in College Station, Texas.
