The San Diego State softball team shut out UC Davis, 1-0, Saturday at the Stanford Louisville Slugger Classic in Palo Alto, Calif. The Aztecs (11-10) will now play No. 5/6 Stanford at approximately 1:30 p.m. PT.

An RBI single by junior Brittany Knudsen (San Diego, Calif./Escondido HS) plated sophomore Jen Wisneski (Riverside, Calif.) for SDSU's run in the bottom of the third inning. Wisneski had reached with an infield bunt single in the previous play and, after UC Davis third baseman Jessica Gonzalez sailed a late throw over the first baseman's head, hustled all the way to third base on the throwing error. Knudsen then came up with the game-winning single to right field.

The lone run was plenty for freshman pitcher Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif.), who allowed just two hits and a walk over seven innings. Micetich (6-4), who struck out 10 against Vermont on Friday, had another big strikeout game with nine en route to picking up her third consecutive complete game shutout. Micetich has now gone 23 innings without surrendering a run.

The Aggies did put together a late rally in the sixth when Bianca Castillo led off with a deep double off the center field wall. Belinda Paine replaced Castillo on second and, after a diving catch by San Diego State redshirt junior first baseman Monica Alnes (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.), moved to third on a groundout by Julie Stauder. Micetich got out of the jam by getting Erin Emde to pop weakly to Aztec sophomore second baseman Jessica Camello (Temecula, Calif.).

Knudsen singled twice to pace the SDSU offense, while Alnes and Wisneski each added solo singles.
