The San Diego State men's basketball team will be participating in postseason play for the fourth consecutive year after it received an invitation to the 32-team 2009 National Invitational Tournament (NIT) on Sunday evening. The Aztecs, who received a No. 1 seeding, will play their first-round game at Cox Arena on Tuesday, March 17. SDSU will welcome Weber State for a 7 p.m. PT matchup.

This is the fourth straight season in which San Diego State has advanced to postseason play and the sixth time in the last eight years. The four-consecutive postseason appearances ties a school record and marks the first time since the Aztecs gained Division I status that SDSU has made four straight trips. The 2009 campaign also marks the 10th time in the Division I era that San Diego State has played in the postseason. The Tuesday night game is the third time that the Scarlet and Black has played host to a postseason contest, as SDSU welcomed UC Irvine in 1982 (Sports Arena) and UC Santa Barbara in 2003 (Cox Arena).

The Aztecs are making their fifth NIT appearance in school history. Last season, the Aztecs lost to Florida, 73-49, in Gainsville, Fla.

The winner of the San Diego State-Weber State game will advance to play the winner of the Kansas State-Illinois State contest in the second round. The first three rounds of the NIT will be played on campus sites, while the semifinals and championship outings will be played at Madison Square Garden. The NIT championship game is slated for Thursday, April 2, at 7 p.m. ET.
