Aztec Men's Tennis Picks Up Second Victory In Two Days

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's tennis team picked up their second win in as many days over Texas Tech Friday afternoon at the Aztec Tennis Center. The Aztecs are coming off a sweep of Georgia State on Thursday.

SDSU took an early lead by taking the doubles point, starting off in second doubles with Achim Ceban and Giovanni Vaglietti defeating Sinisa Markovic and Michael Breler, 8-5. The only doubles match that the Red Raiders would take was first doubles, where No.10 Raony Carvalho and Christian Rojmar took down Bartosz Golas and Juan Gomez, 8-6. In third doubles, Luis Rattenhuber and Andre Feliz would clinch to doubles point by downing Gonzalo Escobar and David Gonzalez, 8-6.

In singles action No. 45 Carvalho defeated Ceban, 6-1, 6-2, in first singles. Next to finish was fourth singles with Feliz fighting back for San Diego State, defeating Rojmar, 6-4, 6-4. Texas Tech would come right back and pick up a win in second singles with Markovic defeating Golas, 6-3, 6-2. The last victory of the day would come in third singles as Escobar took down Gomez, 7-6 (7), 6-3. Tim Schulz van Endert would defeat Milos Kustudija, 6-4, 6-4, in sixth doubles as Giovanni Vaglietti finished off the Red Raiders in fifth singles, defeating Breler, 6-2, 7-6 (4).

Up next for the Aztecs is a doubleheader with Minnesota at 10 a.m. PT and Nevada at 3 p.m. PT at the Aztec Tennis Center on Sunday, March 15.
