San Diego State Senior Men's Basketball Student-Athlete Kelvin Davis

On if the award helps to ease the pain of not being able to compete at his high level:
"Any award you get is a great award because you get picked out of a lot of people who could be chosen for that award, so I'm happy that I received it. I'm happy just to be a part of this team. Our team is doing well right now heading into the tournament so I'm just happy right now."

On why he came back at the beginning of the year and has only played in eight games:
"I just couldn't play at that type of high level and Coach (Steve Fisher) kind of saw. I talked to him and everybody else and so I made the decision to just sit out and hope for another year. I just couldn't do it; my body couldn't take it after awhile."

On if he practices with the team every day:
"Not every day, just every so often I go out there and lace them up and try to hang with the guys."

On when he thinks he'll be 100 percent back:
"I talked to the doctors and they told me that a lot of people don't recover or be 100 percent for months, let alone an athlete trying to get back to a high competitive level. It's going to be a challenge."

On if he ever questions why this happened to him:
"I never really did. I'm not the type of person to feel sorry for myself because anything can happen. Sometimes one problem is better than others; you don't know what other people are going through. In my case, I just took it as a challenge. I was determined to get through it."
