SAN DIEGO - Tickets are now on sale for San Diego State's baseball game against UC Davis on Friday, April 3, at 2:30 p.m. at PETCO Park, the home of the San Diego Padres. That contest will precede the Padres' exhibition game against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim scheduled for a 7 p.m. start that evening.
The 2009 Aztecs feature consensus All-American and Olympic bronze-medalist Stephen Strasburg, a local product from West Hills High School, who is expected to be SDSU's starting pitcher against the Aggies.
Ticket prices for the twin bill are set at $16 for Upper Infield Reserved, $28 for field Reserved and $36 for Field Box seats. They are available for purchase at the Aztec Ticket Office at Window E at Qualcomm Stadium or over the phone at (619) 283-7378. Ticket orders may also be placed at the Tony Gwynn Stadium ticket office at home games during the upcoming season.
During the doubleheader there will be a "5 for $5" concession featuring a hot dog, 22-ounce soda, peanuts, popcorn and cookie for one low price.
SDSU has played at PETCO Park four times in the past, opening the venue in 2004 by setting a college attendance record of 40,106 during its 4-0 win against Houston there on March 11. The Aztecs' most recent visit came in 2007 when it defeated Michigan, 4-1, as part of the Tony Gwynn 2007 Classic.
San Diego State opens its 2009 season at the MLB Urban Invitational in Compton, Calif., on Friday, Feb. 20, against Bethune-Cookman at 2:00 p.m. Pacific time. The home opener is set for Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 6:00 p.m. against nationally-ranked Cal State Fullerton.
