SAN DIEGO - The 10th in a daily series during fall camp, get to know another Aztec newcomer. Today, a conversation with junior transfer offensive lineman Daniel Tufele (San Diego, Calif.).
GoAztecs.com: How has your experience at camp been so far?
Tufele: It's been a good experience. It's been tough, but the older guys have helped us get through it. We're putting in a lot of hard work, but we know it will pay off.
GoAztecs.com: Why did you choose San Diego State?
Tufele: I've lived in San Diego all my life and I have always been an Aztec fan. I had scholarship offers from other schools, but nothing beats being at home.
GoAztecs.com: What are you looking forward to about the Family Day scrimmage tomorrow?
Tufele: There will be a lot of competition out there, but it's going to be a good environment with all the families watching. Everyone is going to be out there giving it their all.
GoAztecs.com: What is your most memorable high school football moment?
Tufele: It would have to be when our high school (Morse HS) beat St. Augustine. They were ranked No. 6 in the county and we upset them. Doing that was the best moment in high school ever.
GoAztecs.com: What do you like to do in your spare time?
Tufele: I just like hanging out with my friends and relaxing because I know I'm going to have to come back to a hard day of work at football.
GoAztecs.com: What type of music do you listen to?
Tufele: I would say I'm eclectic. I listen to everything, including country, reggae, hip-hop, rap and R&B. It's all good with me.
GoAztecs.com: How did you spend your summer?
Tufele: I was mainly working out, but I also like to go to the beach. So, my friends and I were at the beach a lot just relaxing and trying to get in some workouts over there.
GoAztecs.com: What is one place you that you have never been to that you would like to visit?
Tufele: I would say Tahiti. One of my family members who went over there said it's a nice vacation spot, so I would like to visit some time.
GoAztecs.com: Did you play any other sports in high school?
Tufele: I wrestled and did shotput and discus for track in high school, but nothing beats football.
GoAztecs.com: How did you get started in football?
Tufele: Well, I grew up in a Samoan household and in Samoan households it's God, family and football.
GoAztecs.com: What do you plan to major in at San Diego State?
Tufele: I'm majoring in sociology.
