SDSU 2007 Fall Mountain West Conference All-Academic Honorees in PDF Format
A total of 26 San Diego State student-athletes from four different sports have been named to the Mountain West Conference all-academic team for the 2007 fall semester, the league office announced Thursday.
The Aztec women's soccer team had the largest amount of SDSU honorees with nine selections, highlighted by junior Jillian Riker (Carlsbad, Calif.), who earned the highest grade point average of the group with a 3.71 in marketing during the fall semester.
In addition, the women's cross country squad had seven of its runners honored, while football had six selections, followed by the women's volleyball team with four.
Other notable Aztecs receiving recognition include senior cross country captain Lisa Naucler (Ljusdal, Sweden), who was the Scarlet and Black's top finisher in all six races she ran, along with senior forward Jackie Ragudos (San Diego, Calif.), who led the women's soccer team with seven goals last fall, senior setter Kristen Castillo (Torrance, Calif.), who was named to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine academic all-District VIII volleyball third team and junior linebacker Russell Allen (Oceanside, Calif.), who topped the SDSU football team with 119 tackles last season.
In order to be eligible for the selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at San Diego State University, while upholding a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and be a starter or a significant contributor to his or her team.
