San Diego State Puts Six-Game Winning Streak on the Line at Arizona on Wednesday
After going 5-0 in a span of 10 days and sporting a six-game overall winning streak, San Diego State (7-1) hits the road again, this time for a non-conference tilt at Arizona (5-2) on Wednesday. The game is set for 7:00 p.m. MT/6:00 p.m. PT, can be seen live on FS Arizona (DirecTV channel 686, DISH Network channel 415) and can be heard on AM 600 KOGO with Ted Leitner calling the action.
The Aztecs will be looking to avenge last season's 74-58 loss inside McKale Center at the Fiesta Bowl Classic. Arizona is the second of three straight opponents on SDSU's schedule that advanced to last season's NCAA Tournament. Following its tilt with UA, San Diego State will take on Saint Mary's at the Wooden Classic in Anaheim, Calif. A year ago, the Gaels beat the Aztecs 69-64 at the same event and venue.
Game Tidbits:
* San Diego State is in search of a seven-game winning streak for the first time since winning eight straight to open the 2006-07 campaign.
* San Diego State is looking to win at least eight of its first nine games to open a season for just the sixth time in 39 Division I seasons. A victory would match the school's best start as a Division I institution.
* SDSU will be looking to snap a six-game losing streak to Arizona and a six-gamer in Tucson.
* All five of the Aztecs' series victories have come when the Wildcats have not held a national rank. Arizona is currently not in any either of the two national polls (AP/Coaches).
