DAUFUSKIE ISLAND, S.C. - In a tournament that was postponed two months due to Hurricane Hanna, the San Diego State men's golf team is in third place at 17-over 593 through 36 holes Monday at the first annual Rees Jones Intercollegiate in Daufuskie Island, S.C. The Aztecs opened the day with a 294 and followed it up with a 299 in the afternoon round to sit 12 strokes off the pace set by 22nd-ranked South Carolina. SDSU trails second place Georgia State by six strokes and is three up on tournament host Michigan State at the par-72, 7,380-yard Jones Signature Course at Haig Point Club.

Aztec freshman Andrew Cooley is tied for seventh place on the individual leaderboard at 3-over 147, including a second-round 71, which tied as the fourth-best score of the day in the 60-golfer field. Cooley aced the par-3 eighth hole and also birdied the fourth, ninth and 18th holes.

Senior Bryan Martin was in first through the first 18 holes with an opening round 70, but carded a 78 in the afternoon to end up at 4-over 148 and tied for 10th place. Sophomore Johan Carlsson is the third Aztec in the top 20, posting a pair of 75s to tie for 18th with a 150.

Freshman J.J. Spaun is just one stroke behind Carlsson with a 151, while senior David Palm rounds out the Aztec contingent in a tie for 34th place with a 155, including a first-round 73.

Georgia State's Tobais Rosendahl has a three-stroke lead over the rest of the field and is the only golfer under par at 3-under 141.

The Aztecs conclude the Rees Jones Intercollegiate Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. ET. SDSU will be paired with South Carolina and Georgia State for the final 18 holes. Live stats and complete results are available on golfstat.com.
