SAN DIEGO -
The San Diego State rowing team will be back in the water on Sunday when it participates in the San Diego Fall Classic at Mission Bay. It will be the Aztecs' final fall event of the season.
SDSU will send six boats, which will be spread out over four races. Scheduled to compete for San Diego State will be the varsity eight "A" and "B" boats, and the novice eight "A", "B", and "C" boats, and the varsity four boat.
"I hope to continue our success from last weekend," head coach Jennifer Zebroski said. "We had great races from all boats and I am expecting the same intensity this week."
The women's novice collegiate eight race will kick things off beginning at 8:10 a.m., followed by the collegiate four at 9 a.m. The women's collegiate eight will wrap up the Aztecs' day at 9:50 a.m.
The day will be full of numerous races, beginning at 7:30 a.m. and concluding at 10:15 a.m. The awards ceremony will follow at 11:30 a.m. near the finish line.
In 2006, SDSU dominated the competition, taking the first three spots in the varsity eight race and winning the novice eight event as well.
The best place for spectators to watch the race is either by the finish line or near one of the Ingraham Street bridges. To get to the race from San Diego State, take I-8 west and take the Sports Arena/West Mission Bay exit. Once off the exit, take a right. Stay left onto Ingraham Street, go over one bridge, then turn right at the light (turn away from Paradise Point Hotel). The finish line is on the northeast side of the island.
