SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's tennis team wrapped up play at the Wilson/ITA West Regional Championships Monday at Barnes Tennis Center. Along with the University of San Diego, SDSU served as co-host of the 16-team tournament.
Three Aztecs were in consolation action on the final day of the tournament. Roxanne Ellison cruised to a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Anja-Vanessa Peter of Hawai'i. Olivia Colman was also successful against another Rainbow Wahine, Alyssa Natarette, as she emerged with a 7-6(6), 6-1 win. Sierra Ellison was not as fortunate, however, falling to UH's Melinda Wang, 6-3, 7-6(4).
The five-day tournament also concluded with the main draw singles championship in which USC's Maria Sanchez outlasted fellow Trojan, Alison Ramos, 6-7(4), 7-5, 7-5.
San Diego State will return to action when it closes out its tournament slate by hosting the second SDSU Fall Classic, Nov. 7-9, at the Aztec Tennis Center.
