The San Diego State men's soccer team played to a 2-2, double-overtime tie at Washington Sunday afternoon. With the tie, the Aztecs are now 3-8-3 and 1-3-3 in Pac-10 play, while the Huskies move to 8-5-2 and 3-2-2.

Redshirt junior Jamel Wallace (San Diego, Calif./Oceanside HS) and sophomore Raymundo Reza (Denver, Colo.) each scored for SDSU. Brent Richards tallied twice for Washington.

The Huskies got on the board just 2 minutes, 32 seconds into the game when Richards took a pass from Dylan Tucker-Gangnes and knocked it in from 10 yards out.

San Diego State answered in the 29th minute on a play originally set up by redshirt junior Matt McManus (Santa Clarita, Calif.). McManus, who missed the team's game last Sunday against Washington, took a long throw into the box. Junior M.A.C. Hermann Award candidate Nick Cardenas (Thornton, Colo.) then headed the ball to Wallace, who calmly tucked it into the net for his second tally of the season.

Other good chances in the first half for SDSU came from junior Evan Toft (Aurora, Colo.) and senior captain Dennis Sanchez (Redmond, Wash.). First, Toft was thwarted on a 1-v-1 chance from a tough angle. Then, Sanchez beat the Husky goalkeeper Stephen Fung only on another 1-v-1 only to have a defender slide in and save the ball from going in.

The Aztecs went into the halftime intermission with a 9-4 lead in shots.

SDSU kept its momentum up in the beginning of the second half when Reza nailed it in from 10 yards. It was Reza's team-leading 11th point of the season and fourth goal of the campaign.

However, the Huskies answered about one minute later with Richards' eighth goal of the season. On the play, Richards took a cross from Jamie Finch on the left side and shot it in from seven yards.

Senior Jorge Rosales (Redwood City, Calif.) had seven saves in 110 minutes for San Diego State. Stephen Fung made five stops for Washington.

Wallace and Toft had three shots each, including two on net. Reza, Sanchez and sophomore Khadim Diouf (Dakar, Senegal) added two attempts apiece.

The Aztecs will return to The Mesa on Friday with a game against Stanford at noon.

MAN OF THE MATCH: Sophomore Raymundo Reza earned Man of the Match honors for his stellar play in the midfield. The Denver, Colo., native scored SDSU's go-ahead goal in the 54th minute. On the day, Reza had two shots, both on net, in 101 minutes.
