SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State men's basketball team held its first official practice of the 2008-09 campaign Friday night inside Peterson Gym. The Aztecs, under the direction of 10th-year head coach Steve Fisher, practiced for roughly two-and-a-half hours.
"It wasn't too bad," Fisher said when asked about the team's first practice. "They should all be energized when you come out of the gates the first week or so. ... I like our team, I like they're enthusiasm and I do believe that we are going to have a ballclub that will reflect that on the court when we tee it up and have people watch."
Earlier this week, San Diego State was picked to finish in third place in the Mountain West Conference behind UNLV and Brigham Young. The Aztecs, who earned 170 points in the preseason media poll, also garnered three first-place votes.
SDSU will make its first appearance of the season in an exhibition game against Point Loma Nazarene on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. PT and will get its regular season underway on Saturday, Nov. 15, vs. UC San Diego at 1 p.m. PT. Both games will be held at Cox Arena.
