The San Diego State women's golf team posted its best round of the tournament, firing a 17-over 305 in the final 18 holes of the Price's Give `Em Five Invitational Wednesday afternoon at the par-72, 6,316-yard New Mexico State University Golf Course in Las Cruces, N.M. The Aztecs put together their best round of the tournament by five strokes and the eighth-best in the field on the final day to finish the 54-hole event at 70-over 934. SDSU ended up in 15th place, just four strokes out of ninth place, as a number of schools finished close to one another in the final standings.

All five Aztec golfers improved on their scores from Tuesday's second round, including freshman Malin Enarsson (Gothenburg, Sweden), who shot a 6-over 78 to finish in 34th place overall at 15-over 231. Enarsson has now been SDSU's top performer in each of the team's three tournaments so far this fall.

Senior captain Maki Kamimura (West Covina, Calif.) carded the team's low round of the day with a 3-over 75 to move up 10 slots on the individual leaderboard into a tie for 41st place at 18-over 234. Sophomores Stephanie Arcala (Oceanside, Calif.) and Samantha Roberts (Carlsbad, Calif.) continued to duplicate each others scores in the third round, as each posted a tournament-best 4-over 76 to tie for 52nd place with a 236.

Aztec junior Heather Wilson (Chula Vista, Calif.), meanwhile, shaved four strokes off her second-round 85, posting a 9-over 81 to finish in 79th place with a 243 in her first event since fall of 2006.

UC Irvine, ranked 31st nationally by golfstat.com, came away with the team title with a three-day total of 881, while Anteater Jane Chin garnered medalist honors as the only golfer under par at 4-under 212.

The San Diego State women's golf team rounds out its 2008 fall schedule in two weeks as it makes its annual trip to Hawaii for the Kent Youel Invitational at the Kapolei Golf Course in Kapolei, Hawaii, Oct. 28-29.
